Seminar and Workshop on “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Volunteer Team Operations” Illuminate the Stage of Homs Cultural Palace
In a pioneering step toward empowering volunteer work and enhancing its impact on society, the stage of the Homs Cultural Palace hosted a seminar and workshop on Wednesday entitled “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Volunteer Team Operations.” The event was generously sponsored by the Homs Directorate of Culture in cooperation with the Taqaddum Center for Dialogue, Development, and Peacebuilding and Hani Tech Channel, founded by expert trainer in modern technologies and artificial intelligence, Mr. Hani Nawaya.
The workshop witnessed notable attendance from representatives of community, humanitarian, and service-oriented volunteer teams, as well as entrepreneurs and individuals interested in technological innovation and community development.
The workshop aimed to strengthen volunteer work tools and provide innovative insights capable of generating positive and effective change within society. This initiative represented a valuable opportunity for volunteers to benefit from the latest technologies—particularly artificial intelligence—to develop their projects and maximize their impact across various fields, thereby enhancing their contribution to building a more dynamic and prosperous society.
During the workshop, Mr. Hani Nawaya presented several key themes. The session began with a discussion entitled “The New Syria in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” highlighting the significant opportunities AI offers for the country’s future. It then explored the differences between traditional approaches and AI-driven methodologies in volunteer work and project acceleration.
The workshop further focused on AI skills that can support and advance volunteer initiatives, including community needs assessment, project proposal design, team management, marketing and promotion of initiatives, and data analysis. Participants were also introduced to inspiring examples of volunteer teams that have successfully integrated artificial intelligence into their initiatives.
The workshop concluded with practical steps for adopting artificial intelligence within community initiatives. A comprehensive model was presented to demonstrate how AI can be utilized throughout all stages of an initiative—from needs assessment and planning to impact evaluation and final report generation.
A hands-on practical session and live demonstrations formed an important part of the workshop, allowing participants to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of AI-related concepts through direct interaction with trainer Hani Nawaya. At the conclusion of the event, attendees received a curated list of essential artificial intelligence tools beneficial to volunteer teams and community actors, providing them with practical resources to support the integration of AI into their work.
Radwan Al-Thalji, Field Operations Coordinator at the Taqaddum Center for Dialogue, Development, and Peacebuilding, stated:
“At Taqaddum Center, we believe in the importance of combining community engagement with modern technologies. We continuously work to equip volunteer teams with the tools they need to expand their social impact and foster innovation within their initiatives.”
The Taqaddum Center for Dialogue, Development, and Peacebuilding and the Homs Directorate of Culture reaffirm their commitment to supporting and empowering civil society by providing the knowledge and tools necessary to keep pace with technological advancements, ensuring the optimal use of artificial intelligence in advancing community development goals.
